First time visiting and I was really impressed! Such a cool market vibe with an amazing variety of fresh fish options. The raw oyster bar was a standout fun, lively, and perfect for anyone who loves oysters. We were seated within minutes, which was a nice surprise. I ordered the lobster roll and my fiancé had the fish tacos both came out quickly, perfectly warm, and absolutely fresh. Generous portions for the price and packed with flavor. Definitely feels like a hidden gem, whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or planning a casual date night. 10/10 highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
Santa Monica Seafood Market is my go-to spot for the freshest seafood. The quality of the fish is always top-notch, and you can really taste the difference. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with recommendations or special requests. At checkout, they even offer you a bag with an ice pack to keep your seafood cold until you get home—such a thoughtful touch. They also have a free parking lot in the back and meters in the front, which makes shopping super convenient. It is on the pricier side, but you truly get what you pay for: premium seafood that’s worth every penny. I love shopping here and always trust them for the best quality.
Arrived on a Friday afternoon looking to have a lobster roll. There was a wait for a table seat but I opted to sit at their oyster bar. I asked a guy what he was having because it looked good. So I ordered the Wild Hawaiian Bigeye Tuna Poke Bowl. It is served with hawaiian dressing, sushi rice, avocado, sesame seed, tobiko caviar, and seaweed salad. It was delicious. They have other items I would definitely come back to try. They have parking in the back and metered parking. The place is organized kept up. My first time here and I will definitely be back.
Fresh, flavorful seafood with room for better service. The grilled white fish was cooked just right moist, flaky, and well-seasoned. The crab cakes were another standout: golden outside, tender inside, with real crab flavor and minimal filler. The clam chowder was creamy and rich, a classic done right. The seafood market is a major bonus, offering high-quality cuts and specialty items for home chefs. Staff can sometimes come across as indifferent, and long lines aren’t uncommon depending on when you go. But if you’re focused on the food, it delivers. Definitely worth a visit if you’re serious about seafood.
Yall this place is GOOD. The Peruvian scallops were DELICIOUS, the Chilean sea bass was so crispy yet buttery and flaky and soft, the calamari was so lightly battered and crisp, and the stone crab claws were amazing with their sauce. My expectations were certainly exceeded. Service is excellent and I love the brightly lit natural lighting. 10/10 will be back.
My husband and I have been enjoying the best quality & freshest seafood at the Santa Monica Seafood Market & Cafe for over a decade or so . Whenever we feel like having seafood the only place that comes to mind is this establishment . The best oysters , and the Cioppino is superb !!! The Crab Louie salad is divine. One of the best fish and chips in town . For your next seafood outing make reservations and go to the Santa Monica Seafood Market & Cafe !!!
All the fish looked super fresh and delicious. There’s a counter for raw fish and a restaurant where you can dine in or order to go. Great experience overall.
Great spot for seafood and fish. The place has a nice ambiance with all the fish and seafood laid out in the middle for your eyes to admire. I had oysters and sea bass. Both were really good. It was torn between the sea bass and seared tuna and followed the waitress’ recommendation to go for the sea bass. It was great, but more on the salty and umami side. Next time, I’d go for the tuna as I prefer fish more on the creamy side. My server was very friendly and attentive. Great service, great place, great food.
